Which Java version do you use?
The current LTS, 21, for new services. We help teams on 8 or 11 plan an upgrade that unlocks virtual threads and better performance.
Spring Boot or something lighter like Quarkus?
Spring Boot by default for its ecosystem and hiring pool. Quarkus or Micronaut when fast startup and low memory, for example serverless, are the priority.
Can you break up our Java monolith?
Yes, using the strangler pattern. We carve out bounded contexts behind an API, move them one at a time, and keep the monolith running until it is empty.
How do you test Java services?
JUnit 5 for units, Testcontainers for real databases and queues in integration tests, and contract tests between services.
